Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us.
Last updated: Sept 2026. Your privacy matters to us.
What we collect. Email, and optionally your name, if you give them via the contact or subscribe form. Basic server logs - IP, user agent, page requested - that WordPress and our host keep for security and stats. And we may at times collect anonymous analytics about which pages get visited. That's it. We don't ask for anything else and we don't try to identify you across the web.
Why. To reply to your message, to send the newsletter / launch notes you signed up for, and to keep the site running and safe.
Who we share it with. Our email provider (Kit, formerly ConvertKit) processes your subscription, with Mailchimp used for some older lists, and our host (Hostinger) runs the server. They have their own privacy policies. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone else except where required by law.
Affiliate links. Some outbound links to books or tools are affiliate links - we may earn a small commission. Those clicks are tracked by the destination (e.g. Amazon), not by us.
Cookies. WordPress sets a small number of functional cookies if you log in or comment. We don't use third-party advertising cookies.
SanskritGames (on this site and in the iOS and Android apps). To keep your place in the games we store: a random key your device holds (there is no sign-in), your answers with how long each took, your progress and scores, your game settings (sound, transliteration and the like), and which games you open. Optionally, a display name and country if you set them, and an email if you save one to move your progress between devices or to hear from us. Your answers set what you practise next and how fast the games go for you; everyone's answers together, not tied to anyone by name, show which letters are hardest. Leaderboards show a display name only if you choose to appear on them. If you share your progress with a friend, they see it; a friend you make your teacher (or a class you join) also sees your settings and can change some of them. A helper who signs the voice-recording agreement gives their legal name, date of birth and email, and we keep those with the record of the signing (date, time, IP address and browser). You can stop sharing, or leave a class, at any time. A helper who records a sound for the games sends that recording; we keep it to listen to, and the good ones are played in the games. No advertising and no tracking across other apps or sites. In the apps, network requests go only to this site.
Deleting your SanskritGames data. In the game or app: About → Privacy & Terms → Delete my account. That removes your progress, answers, scores, name and saved email from our server, on every device linked to the account. A mailing-list subscription is separate - use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to us.
Your choices. You can unsubscribe from any email with one click. You can ask us to delete any information we have about you - write to us and we will. You can also refuse to give us any information, with the understanding that we can't reply if you don't.
Changes. If we change anything meaningful, we'll update the date at the top. Continuing to use the site means you accept the current version.
